ABOUT THIS SITE

What is this place?

Cult of Distraction is a blog site run by muggins here, Nick Fisher. I'm a software engineer born in Britain and living in Southern California, who wishes he was a writer and absolutely would be if there was good money in it. (And, of course, if anyone thought I was actually good enough to be paid for it...)

This site is dedicated to all the pop culture that I indulge in: film, TV, music and anime as a focus, but really whatever media interests me. I give my takes on them all and plenty more besides. (Almost) anything goes!

Why 'Cult of Distraction'?

Pop culture often attracts cult followings, and pop culture also serves as a welcome distraction from all the depressing nonsense going on in the world. So pop culture is a 'cult' of 'distraction'? I dunno, it got stuck in my head when I was coming up with a name for the site.

Your header logo is cool - who made it?

That would be uber-talented web designer Angela Truong, my universally awesome wife of over 15 years. You can find more of her work here.

How often do you update?

Honestly, whenever I can - this is staunchly a blog and not a news site.

Your last review was for something old. Why is that?

See previous answer. This site is really about putting on a focus on whatever I get interested in at any given time. That can include some really old-school stuff sometimes.

What's with all the goofy taglines for each review on the category pages?

I love a good pun, especially if it relates to the review somehow. It's corny, but who cares?

Your site sucks, kill yourself.

NAH.

Why did you give my favourite thing a bad rating?

Because I didn't like it - simple as that. That doesn't mean you can't though. If you have an issue with some of the ratings we give here, there's plenty of other places across the Internet giving the stuff you like some love.

No, I am angry. Or at least I wish to send a message about your site.

You can reach me by email at cultofdistraction@gmail.com. Or possibly one or two social media links if I ever plan on getting those up and running.

Why do you spell favourite with a 'u'?

I'm British. We do English the proper way!
